The Mind of a Leader: Be a Leader who is Emotionally Resilient 


Emotional Resiliency is the ability to adapt to stressful relationships and situations in the workplace.  In this dynamic, engaging workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to actively participate in a number of experiential activities that bring emotional resiliency to life. This event is designed for Training and OD professionals who are interested in becoming leaders who are emotionally resilient, while also exploring how to leverage five different methods of learning to engage the adult learner. Practitioners will take away proven techniques that they can immediately apply to their own instructional design and delivery. This program incorporates multiple learning methods, including hands-on experiential activities, demonstration videos, case studies, group discussion and personal reflection.


After attending this presentation participants will …

 

 1. Define emotional resiliency in the workplace

 2. Distinguish between too little, optimal and too much stress

 3. Apply techniques that will reduce stress for you and others

Speakers Bio 

  

Michelle Cummings, M.S., is Co-Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Personify Leadership, as well as the Owner and “Big Wheel” at Training Wheels, a known leader in the Team Development industry. She is an accomplished author and is a dynamic, sought-after speaker and consultant in the areas of leadership, teambuilding, and experiential learning. Michelle has created a wide variety of facilitation, debriefing and teambuilding activities that have collectively changed the way trainers and educators work. She speaks at more than 25 local, national, and international conferences each year has authored four books to date, with another scheduled for release in the coming year. Michelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kansas State University and a Master’s degree in Experiential Education from Minnesota State University at Mankato. She grew up on a farm in Norton, Kansas and currently lives in Littleton, Colorado.

 

At the ASTD International conference in May of 2013, Michelle and her business partner Angela Sebaly, Principle and Founder of Invested Leadership, launched Personify Leadershipä, a comprehensive leadership program that provides core development for existing leaders so they can eliminate career limiting behaviors and increase team performance. What makes this approach so different is that Personify Leadership exposes leaders to five methods of learning: experiential simulations, videos demonstrations, case studies, group discussion and personal reflection using a simple and straightforward model with eight core body-focused competencies.
